Gomaru Ryu Kobudo
Gomaru Ryu Kobudo is a comprehensive system of Japanese and Okinawan weaponry. It includes 9 Primary weapons and several elective weapons. Students begin at white belt and progress through the Kyu/Dan ranks, adding new weapons and improving their skill with existing ones.
The Method
The techniques of this Modal Art are directly related to the techniques
of Kenpo, Jujutsu, and Bukendo. Each new weapon learned builds on techniques
and principles developed with the previous one. Students of other Modal Arts
often find weapon training to be smooth transition.
The Weapons
Students begin with concept training
using the single stick. They then progress to application training with single
and double Stick, Jo and Bo staff, Tonfa, Jutte, Sai, Kama and eventually
Tanto. Students may also choose from Tessen, Manriki, Kusarigama, Tanjo, Tetsubo,
Hojo, and many others for elective weapon training.
